Every month we feature a special book and related resources and ideas.
United Tweets of America: 50 State Birds
by Hudson Talbott
A goofy combination of bird facts and state facts, this book offers a fun and unique way to learn about our diverse nation. Each bird is presented as a competitor for Top Tweet, with a whole page to show off its talents and the distinctive features of its state. Frequently, the birds on facing pages interact with each other. If you don’t know the Massachusetts state bird, find out here. As a bonus, the Massachusetts state insect, cookie, beverage, and muffin are also included.
May 24-28 is the last week of library classes (B week.)
Final due date: May 21
We expect 2,000 book returns in the coming week. Your help with shelving is very much appreciated!

I Spy!
Inspired by the I Spy collaborations between photographer Walter Wick and children's author Jean Marzollo, Grade II set out to create their own visual/poetic puzzles. With the help of Mr. Porter, Mrs. Kellogg and master collector, Mr. Cassie, everyone had great fun bringing together collections of every sort, photographing them, and then writing the most challenging spy poems possible (in rhyme!).
