All-School Evening Committee
Selects a speaker and oversees planning a stimulating evening for parents and faculty on topics that relate to raising and educating children. Winter commitment.
Arts and Assemblies Committee
Plans assemblies and enrichment programs to enhance and supplement the curriculum for the entire student body. Committee members work with the faculty at each grade level. Most of the work is done independently. Ongoing commitment.
Communications Network
Plans and implements improvements to ongoing PA communications to maximize community building and involvement. Ongoing flexible commitment.
Community Service Committee
Works with faculty and Service Learning Coordinator to plan hands-on service projects that support themes in the curriculum for students at all grade levels. The committee also coordinates several annual service events for the whole family. Meetings held first Wednesday of each month.
Craft Fair Committee
Manages the long-term planning for and running of the Brookline Marketplace, a Park School fund-raising event with approximately 90 vendors. Parent volunteers are also needed to participate on the day of the fair. This is a community building event both within Park and in relation to the town of Brookline. Ongoing commitment, fall event.
Diversity Forum Committee
Plans presentations, discussions, and other events that address the opportunities and challenges associated with the variety of sources of diversity within our school community. Occasional evening committee meetings; ongoing commitment.
Family Portrait Day Committee
Organizes and staffs a one-day outdoor photography "shoot" for Park families, extended families, and pets. Sitting fee proceeds go to the Parents' Association. Fall commitment.
Faculty & Staff Appreciation Committee
Creates and implements opportunities to express appreciation to the faculty and staff for their dedication and hard work. Additionally, the committee organizes the annual Appreciation Luncheon in the spring. Volunteers needed on a project basis. Varying time commitment.
Hospitality Committee
Hosts and arranges refreshments for special school events which include Grandparents' Day, Yule Festival, and May Day. Flexible time commitment.
Library Volunteers
Work with the librarians to facilitate the daily operations of the library. Tasks include: shelving, checking in/out books, and special projects. Connect with other Park parents and students, get to know a great collection of books, and be in the "heart" of the school! Flexible time commitment of four hours a month; typically two hours every other week.
Parent Forum Committee
Plans a series of speakers and discussion groups for parents focused on particular phases in child development and associated challenges for parenting. Occasional committee meetings; ongoing commitment.
Parents' Independent School Network (PIN)
Represents Park School at area meetings of independent schools on topics of interest to the parent community and reports back at Parents' Association meetings. Ongoing commitment, including daytime availability to attend PIN meetings and availability to attend P.A. meetings.
Park Green Committee (PGC)
PGC is a group of concerned and committed parents, staff, and faculty who are eager to help raise the level of Park School's environmental mindfulness and the environmental literacy of all its constituents. PGC's objective is to support and encourage any and all "green" activities. Monthly meetings, plus additional sub-committee work.
The Park Parent Editorial Board
Writes timely articles on current events at the School and matters of concern to the parent body as well as regular columns for Park's monthly newsletter. Photographers welcome, too. Either a one-time or ongoing commitment.
Park Plaza Committee
Facilitates the sale of Park School merchandise at school events. Ongoing commitment.
Publicity Coordinator
Assists other P.A. committees by creating signs and otherwise helping to communicate to the community about upcoming events. Ongoing commitment.
Student Picture Day Coordinator and Volunteers
Coordinates parent volunteers who help the students (N-IX) and assists the photographers on picture day. Updates the "picture wall" in the lobby with the new class pictures. One day in September, and one other day of your choice.
Springfest Committee
Plans and organizes Park's annual outdoor, day long fair and celebration for the entire community. Activities include games, rides, auction, and lunch. Sub-committee chairs are needed for pre-event planning. All families are asked to volunteer the day of the event to make it a success. Springfest is the Parents' Association's largest annual fundraiser. Spring commitment.
Take-Home Foods Committee
Solicits cooks and bakers within the Park community to prepare delicious edible goods, and then manages the sale and distribution of these items. Winter commitment. (Every other year – again in 2009/2010)
Video Coordinator
Collects orders for professional videos of the Grandparents' Day Assembly, Yule Festival, and May Day, and of the plays performed by Park's "Players in the Park." Event-driven commitment.
Volunteer Coordinator
Publicizes volunteer opportunities and recruits support for any committee needing volunteers as well as coordinating the annual "Volunteer Handbook" and "Volunteer Form." Flexible time commitment.
