General

  • Type of School: Independent, coeducational, non-profit, non-sectarian day school, Pre-Kindergarten - Grade IX.
  • Founded: 1888. Moved to Goddard Avenue site in 1971.
  • Location: Located in the Boston suburb of Brookline, MA. Less than a mile from Jamaica Pond and across the street from Lars Anderson Park.
  • Facilities: 26-acre campus with two main buildings. 30,000 volume library, five science labs, three computer labs, 6 mobile laptop carts, three music rooms, three art studios, 305-seat theater, dining room, and six tutoring offices.
  • Total Enrollment: 553 students: 193 in Lower Division, 170 in Middle Division, 190 in Upper Division.
  • Faculty and Staff: 147 total employees; 93 teaching faculty (of whom 83% hold advanced degrees); 9 administrators; 38 staff members; 7 interns.
  • Average class size: 13-16 students.
  • Diversity: Park's community includes people from many different cultural heritages, races, family configurations, financial means, and life experiences. 33% of students and 15% of the teachers, administrators and interns identify themselves as People of Color.
  • Neighborhoods represented: Students from across the metropolitan area attend the school approximately 1/3 from Boston, 1/3 from Brookline/Chestnut Hill, and 1/3 from western and southern suburbs.
  • After-School Program: Approximately 120 students (Grades Pre-K - V) are enrolled in our after school program, ASP for Pre-K - III students is located across campus in a dedicated facility that has five classrooms and an outdoor playground. ASP for students in Grades IV - V is in a newly-constructed space in the main building.
  • After-School Activities: Elective sports for Grades IV and V; elective sports and drama for Grades VI-IX.
  • Athletics: Fall Term Soccer, Cross Country Running and Field Hockey; Winter Term Ice Hockey, Basketball, and Wrestling; Spring Term Lacrosse, Softball and Track.
  • Sports facilities: 6 athletic fields, 100-meter track, 3 playgrounds, 2 gymnasiums with 3 full basketball courts.
  • Transportation: Carpools, partially subsidized charter buses to downtown and western suburbs, free shuttle buses also available from nearby MBTA stations.
