General

  • Type of School: Independent, coeducational, non-profit, non-sectarian day school, Nursery- Grade IX.
  • Founded: 1888. Moved to Goddard Avenue site in 1971.
  • Location: Located in the Boston suburb of Brookline, MA. Less than a mile from Jamaica Pond and across the street from Lars Anderson Park.
  • Facilities: 26 acre campus with two main buildings. 35,000 volume library, five science labs, three computer labs, three music rooms, three art studios, 305 seat theatre, dining room and six tutoring offices.
  • Total Enrollment: 515 students; 322 in Lower school, 193 in Upper School.
  • Faculty and Staff: 145 total employees; 91 teaching faculty (of whom 75% hold advanced degrees); 9 administrators; 38 staff members; 7 interns.
  • Average class size: 13-16 students.
  • Diversity: Park's community includes people from many different cultural heritages, races, family configurations, financial means, and life experiences. 28.5% of students and 17.5% of the teachers, administrators and interns identify themselves as Non-European Americans.
  • Neighborhoods represented: Students from across the metropolitan area attend the school approximately 1/3 from Boston, 1/3 from Brookline/Chestnut Hill, and 1/3 from western and southern suburbs.
  • After-School Program: 117 students (Grades N-V) are enrolled in our after school program located across campus in a dedicated facility that has five classrooms and an outdoor playground.
  • After-School Activities: Elective sports for Grades IV and V; elective sports and drama for Grades VI-IX.
  • Athletics: Fall Term Soccer, Cross Country Running and Field Hockey; Winter Term Ice Hockey, Basketball, and Wrestling; Spring Term Lacrosse and Track.
  • Sports facilities: 6 athletic fields, 100-meter track, 3 playgrounds, 2 gymnasiums with 3 full basketball courts.
  • Transportation: Carpools, partially subsidized charter buses to downtown and western suburbs, free shuttle buses also available from nearby MBTA stations.

  • Financial Assistance: Park distributed $1,750,000 in need-based financial aid to approximately 20% of the student body in 2007-08.
  • Endowment: $40,311,000 which supports approximately 10% of Park's $14,900,000 operating budget.
