As a school that places students at the center of everything we do, we commit to creating curriculum and program that deliver academic excellence to every child. Social and racial justice and action are the foundation of our work and drive the design of our curriculum and program. 

Short Term

  • 2020-2021 priority: Review, refine, and renew the Philosophy of Multicultural Education and Diversity Beliefs and Aspirations statements. [Lead: Head of School & Director of DEI]

  • 2020-2021 priority: Provide safe, developmentally appropriate, facilitated affinity spaces for students of varied identities - particularly for those in historically underrepresented and marginalized groups. Support all students in exploring all intersecting aspects of identity, especially their racial identity development. [Lead: Director of DEI]

  • 2020-2021 priority: Create a curriculum within the Grade 6-8 Growth Education to explore racism, bias, and allyship. [Lead: Growth Ed Department Head]

  • 2020-2021 priority: Evaluate and revise as needed, the policies and approach to Secondary School Counseling at Park. Alignment with the schools antiracist policies is crucial as the staff support and meet the needs of all families equitably. Consider the staffing structure, test preparation, counseling model, and resources available. [Lead: Secondary School Directors]

Medium Term

  • 2020-2022 priority: Create systems to ensure that students receiving financial aid with learning needs identified in partnership with Academic Support have access to educational testing. [Lead: Director of Academic Support] 

Longer Term

2020-2023 priority: Conduct an extensive and thorough review of ALL curriculum at each grade level and redesign as needed to advance the antiracist mission of the School. Create an aligned SEL and racial and social justice education scope and sequence across all grade levels. [Lead: Director of Instructional Practice]
