The Park School leadership is committed to examining and addressing our individual, collective, and institutional biases, advancing equity & inclusion in our policies and practices, and working to ensure that our diverse community is reflected in the composition of our leadership, faculty, and staff. We believe the work will only be advanced by our clear commitment to learn, change, and remain vigilant in the pursuit of equity and justice in our school.

Underway

  • Immediate priority: Prioritize the recruitment of People of Color to serve on the Board in order to reflect the diversity of the School. This will broaden perspective and understanding of the societal biases that influence school systems and policies. The School will collect and self-report this demographic information annually. [Lead: Board of Trustees]

  • Immediate priority: Prioritize the recruitment of People of Color to leadership positions — Administrative Team, Department Heads, and Programmatic Leadership — in order to reflect the diversity of the School. This will broaden perspective and understanding of the societal biases that influence school systems and policies. The School will self-report this demographic information annually. [Lead: Administrative Team]

  • Immediate priority: Require Administrative Team members to each set an equity, inclusion, and anti-racism goal related to their area of operational influence and make that goal public to the teams they lead. [Lead: Head of School]

  • Immediate priority: Create two Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Liaison roles that will be annual stipended roles open to faculty and staff to support and coordinate the initiatives and work of diversity, equity, inclusion, and anti-racism at the School. [Lead: Director of DEI]

Short Term

  • 2020-2021 priority: Engage all School Leadership — Administrative Team, Department Heads, and Programmatic Leadership — in ongoing education and support around equity, inclusion, and anti-racism to facilitate the development of a DEI lens for institutional leadership and to support equitable decision making. [Lead: Director of DEI]

  • 2020-2021 priority: Develop a Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Council composed of a core group of faculty, staff, and administrators who have demonstrated a depth of investment and knowledge in the work of equity and inclusion. [Lead: Director of DEI]
