Provisional Remote Learning
UPPER Division

Park’s Provisional Remote Learning Policy supports students who will be absent for reasons related to the pandemic. It does not provide accommodations for non-pandemic family choices, such as long weekend travel or appointments. Park expects students to be engaged in learning at all times when able, while school is in session.

If your child will be home ill, The Park School does not expect your child to engage in learning.

If your child is a full-time remote learner this year, please continue remote learning as it has been designed for your child and anticipate an update to this policy that will include full-time remote learners.

What Can You Expect for Your Child in Grade 5:

If your child is home due to attestation results, yet is healthy to participate in learning, they are eligible to participate in remote learning. Please email remotelearning@parkschool.org so that arrangements can be made.

  • Every grade level has a designated Remote Learning Coordinator (RLC). Your email to remotelearning@parkschool.org activates the process for the RLC, who will then contact you. Please know that they are each happy to answer any questions about your child’s schedule and/or tasks.

  • All asynchronous work for an absence, including the grade level virtual classroom will be posted for your child in Google Classroom.

  • On the first day of your child’s absence:

    • The Remote Learning Coordinator (RLC) will provide a link for a live check-in, which may occur before the start of school.

    • Your child will have access to a virtual classroom, where they will find meaningful educational activities.

    • Please plan to come to school between 3:30 - 6 p.m. to pick up materials for the following days.

  • On the second and subsequent days of an absence, you will receive a daily email providing you with a full day’s learning schedule that includes:

    • Synchronous sessions for learning

    • Asynchronous materials for independent work

    • Opportunities for 1:1 check-ins

What Can You Expect for Your Child in Grades 6-8:

If your child is home due to attestation results, yet is healthy to participate in learning, they are eligible to participate in remote learning. Please email remotelearning@parkschool.org so that arrangements can be made.

  • You will receive a prompt response that asks you to have your child email their advisor and teachers to inform them of the absence.

  • On the first day of the absence, as well as following days, students should follow directions provided by their teachers. Because teachers’ instructional approaches will vary from day-to-day, this may include:

    • A link to join the class, or the portion of a class, via Zoom

    • An instructional video + task

    • Asynchronous tasks posted on Google Classroom

    • A video recording of the in-person class or a portion of the in-person class

  • The advisor will be available to check-in regularly as your child needs.
