Students should expect to be engaged in school from 8:15 a.m. to 3 p.m. every day. (8:30-12 p.m. for PreK). PreK, K, Grade 1 are expected to complete an hour of engaged work per day. Grade 2 and 3 are expected to complete an hour and a half of engaged work per day. Grades 4 and 5 are expected to complete two hours of engaged work per day.

Science, music, art, and physical education teachers will provide links to two asynchronous lessons per week for students to complete

Teachers will coordinate small group meetings between 3-5 students using Zoom. In addition, classroom teachers will schedule weekly individual meetings with students for 10-30 minutes to discuss their work and answer any questions.

In the Lower Division, teachers and students will use Zoom for synchronous class time, small group work between students, and individual student-teacher conferences. Families should use email to communicate with teachers, who will respond within 24 hours. Teachers will also continue to be in touch through email (on Monday and Wednesday for PreK-Grade 3, and Monday, Wednesday, and Friday for Grades 4-5).

Students are expected to be present for synchronous classes which will be provided through Zoom. However, during these extraordinary times, care for self and for children far outweigh the care for the curriculum. Park will strive to deliver great learning, and we know that families and faculty may need to press pause to prioritize health and safety. Students who are feeling unwell should contact their homeroom teacher. 

We are working on ways that students, teachers, and peers can maintain connection during this time. In the Lower Division, teachers will hold a classroom Morning Meeting every day, and will also work with small groups of students via Zoom.  Park’s counseling team is also available for families and students during the closure.
