Announcing Park’s New Director of Equity & Inclusion
I am thrilled to announce that Connie Yepez will join Park’s administrative leadership team as the Director of Equity & Inclusion on July 1, 2019. Connie received unanimous support from the Search Advisory Committee and resoundingly positive feedback from faculty and staff during the interview process.
Currently, Connie serves The Park School as Interim Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion Coordinator — a role that requires her to support and partner with faculty, staff, and administration alike in the work of equity and inclusion on our campus. During the 2018-19 academic year, Connie reflects that she has been able to "evaluate the true state of the school regarding DEI work, to set goals for the future, and develop clear action plans that will enable all members of the community to invest in and contribute to the work." Next year, as the Director of Equity & Inclusion, Connie will utilize the findings from the January 2019 Qualitative Climate Assessment and partner with me and the administrative team to develop an implementation plan to guide Park’s diversity, equity, and inclusion work in the near and long term.
Connie possesses a depth of experience in independent schools as well as a deep understanding of The Park School and the work ahead of us, having served as a Secondary School Counselor for two years before taking on her current role. Throughout her 20-year career, Connie has drawn upon her background as a person of color in predominantly white institutions as both a student and faculty member. Connie, who received her bachelor's degree from Eckerd College in women's and gender studies, has led and supported program development, strategic planning, community outreach, advancement, communications, staff development, and admission work in a number of Boston-area schools including Roxbury Prep Charter School, Noble & Greenough School, Concord Academy, and Groton School (her alma mater).
Please join me in thanking Connie for her leadership and service this year as Interim Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion Coordinator and congratulating her on her selection as Director of Equity & Inclusion.
