Exemplary Academic Spaces
SPARK will invest $7.4 million in exemplary academic spaces for student-centered learning.
This fall, Park students returned to a transformed Upper Division learning environment. Summer construction focused on the dated and unrenovated classrooms on the fourth floor of the Main Building and an unused former locker room area on the first floor. Eleven new, expanded Upper Division classrooms and dedicated collaboration spaces are deepening student engagement, giving our teachers instructional flexibility, and fostering meaningful collaboration among students and adults.
Opened for the 2021-22 school year
New classrooms on the fourth floor give teachers greater instructional flexibility in light-filled, modern spaces for our most mature learners.
Opened for Fall 2021
The under-used, former Middle Division locker rooms on the first floor offered an opportunity to reimagine and optimize space for new classrooms.
Opened for Fall 2021
In a student-centered environment, every space is a learning space. Learning overflows to collaboration areas outside of classrooms.
Opened for Fall 2021
The first floor renovation included window-walls, opening the facade of the Main Building to Larz Anderson Park, illuminating our classrooms with daylight.
Opened for Fall 2021
In the summer of 2022, we will renovate science and art classrooms to establish a Lower Division STEAM Corridor and Maker Wing. New labs will be joined by an art classroom to facilitate STEAM opportunities. The Woodshop will relocate to neighbor the Makerspace, bringing together modern and traditional methods of applied learning in a Maker Wing.
Open for the 2022-23 school year
This renovation will add a third lab, giving each science teacher their own dedicated space on the third floor, outfitted with modern science equipment for elementary instruction.
Open for Fall 2022
In recent years, Park has undergone a “making” renaissance, recognizing the infusion of applied learning as an integral component of educational excellence. This renovation will bring together traditional and modern forms of making in a new Maker Wing.
